Statement on the Loss of Paul Dewar
It has been a few days since we lost our dear friend Paul Dewar. The loss has affected all of us, and indeed our entire community, greatly.
Year-End Fundraising a Great Success
Youth Action Now ended 2018 on a fundraising high. Spurred on by a game-changing challenge from Fiona McKean and Tobi Lutke — who committed to match year-end donations up to $100,000 — donors gave generously.
Youth Action Now supports Powershift
Hundreds of young people from across the country converge in Ottawa on the land of the Algonguin Anishnabe, February 14 – 18, for Powershift: Young and Rising. And Youth Action Now will support the participation of 20 local participants.
Youth Action Now presents: Change-Makers
Last November, we brought together inspiring young speakers and artists who are changing our country and our community. Over a hundred community members and youth gathered to be inspired, engaged, and energized by these young change makers.
ExChange brings young activists together
At our community check-in we heard from community members that they wanted more opportunities to connect with each other and learn useful organizing skills. Through ExChange, we brought in activists involved in areas such as environmental justice, Indigenous organizing, and digital communications to run workshops on their topics of expertise.
Community Check-In
More than 60 people — a diverse and dynamic mix of young leaders and youth-serving organizations — joined us for a Community Check-In on September 27 at the Sandy Hill Community Centre.
They provided important information, ideas and insights to help us focus our efforts and boost their impact.
