What
Balling For Our brothers is a basketball tournament that took place July 2019. It aims to address systemic inequality and discrimination. The youth created this movement after they unfortunately lost several members of their community to gun violence in 2015-2016. The hope of this basketball tournament is to build a sense of community and to foster hope. This is being organised by the West-End Youth Motivators, a committee with the Youth Services Bureau. 

In their words: “Our youth as well as our committee members are often discriminated against, we all face a lot of prejudice and do not come from communities with a background of experience and knowledge we can rely on… Our event, for which we are applying for funding for, is called Balling for our brothers, after the murder of several community members through gun violence in 2015-2016, we got together and thought enough is enough”
