What

Project X is a youth-led initiative in the West end of Ottawa that wants to build community by hosting several basketball tournament fundraisers. The goal of the project is to create mentorship opportunities for youth in low-income communities. The goal of the project is to foster community development. Other themes in the project include mental health, sport management, anti-black racism and fighting xenophobia. The group also envisions hosting other events like a soccer tournament and community meals.

In their words: “Success would look like a program being created where a one on one mentor relationship is created in the long term. We want young men to lead the change that is necessary for the community.”
