Ottawa Cypher Series

What: This initiative is organized by young bipoc emerging street dancers, intended for other young bipoc & lgbtq+ emerging street dancers in the Ottawa/Gatineau community. This initiative organizes consistent public cyphers where dancers can participate in street dance culture in an inclusive, educational environment. Our areas of interest are street dance culture and history, marginalized community empowerment, youth empowerment, and dance accessibility.

In their words: “Success for our initiative is the empowering of individuals, especially lgbtq+ and bipoc community members, through an inclusive, supportive, and authentic street dance culture. This can be achieved through community involvement by organizing and attending cyphers, classes, and battles, as well as through community support for individuals pursuing their dance related endeavours through attendance, organization, and resource outreach.”
