Take up Space by Project Agape
What: Take Up Space is a podcast by former grant recipient Project Agape that will focus on discussions surrounding the experiences of POC youth who are survivors and experts of gender-based violence. Project Agape will be focusing the episodes on the stories of POC survivors in order to educate people on different aspects of rape culture and consent.
In their words: “For our group, success will be us being able to have created a space for People of Color to be able to openly talk about trauma and build community. 95% of our organization is Black/African descent and we have spoken at length about how in our communities growing up, it was difficult to talk about mental health, being a survivor and wellness as these topics were shunned by our parents and our communities. At the end of this first series, we want our listeners to feel more aware of their mental health as well as develop an understanding of Gender-based violence that they can use to correct any behaviors.”
