Movers and Shakers

June 20, 2019 - We experienced the true spirit of what Paul meant to dance, give, play and share. We thank all of you who made our one-year anniversary a wonderful, thoughtful, and heartfelt event.

We have many people to acknowledge, but most importantly -- everyone who joined us, particularly the young members! Thank you for your support. You are the reason we do this! Youth Action Now would not be what it is without the help of all those who supported, donated, attended and believe in what we’re doing.

To continue supporting us, be sure to follow us on social media -- Twitter, Facebook and Instagram -- and spread the word among family, friends and colleagues. As well, share links to our Start Up Now grant program with youth-led groups! We have grants of up to $1000 to help them unleash their power!

We were fortunate to have a perfect venue at the Beyond the Pale Brewing Company -- colourful, centrally located, with staff who were hospitable and friendly. MonkeyJunk kept us rocking all night and Fruit, Star, Candy Bar filled the venue with great vibes. Thanks too to Wall Sound -- and to Smoque Shack for the delicious dishes.

We would like to thank our sponsors, including PIPSC, spark*advocacy, and McKeen’s for their crucial support, and Bluesfest for donating the all-festival passes for our raffle. We are forever grateful to the Philippine Dance Troupe of Ottawa for their fancy footwork and Moov Ottawa, who were the embodiment of movers and shakers.

Thanks as well to our hosts, Jordan, Ally, and Barâa for representing us and sharing our plans for the year to come. And to community leaders who came to show their support, including Joel Harden, Catherine McKenney, Emilie Taman and Jacqui Wiens.

Special thanks to our volunteers who made things run smoothly, including Chris, Pranav, Kiana, Paige and our videographer, Troy for making sure we always remember the night.

Our hearts are full and our spirits are high. Thank you.
We can’t wait to come together again!

From the bottom of our hearts,
Julia and Youth Action Now
